Professor David Healey

For over 30 years, David has held influential “Strategic and Thought Leadership” positions in the public and private sector, across the energy utility, telecommunications and climate change industries. Today through Smart Grid Solutions, David advises a number of Government and Commercial entities on the energy supply industry transition to a digital, distributed and decarbonised system.

Some of the present engagements and more recent highlights include:

• 2014 invited to role of Industry Expert Advisor to the UN on Sustainable Energy
• 2016 engaged to deliver assessment and policy recommendations to European Parliament on Cyber Security within the Energy distribution sector
• 2017 appointed as Professor for Smart Energy at Keele University UK
• 2018 invited to present to UK Parliamentary Committee on Climate Change
• 2019 Invited to join the UK Government Energy Data Taskforce
• 2019 invited to join UK OFGEM Industry Working Group to develop Government strategy guidelines for regulatory review of energy network utility industry
• 2019 retained by ENGIE UK to lead the design and development of Smart Energy strategies and solutions, including the technical design for ENGIE’s proposals to the Bristol City Leap procurement valued at circa £1.5bn
• 2020 Invited by BEIS to lead on Smart Energy regarding UK membership of the IEA Smart Grid Action Network ISGAN - Homepage (iea-isgan.org)
• 2021 Appointed to Durham County Council’s Climate Emergency Strategic Board
• 2021 Advising Mitie Group in development of their Plan Zero Energy solutions offering
• 2021 Appointed as Non-Executive Director to Wondrwall Group
