Service Manager Regeneration and Strategic Transport North Tyneside Council

Paul Dowling is a chartered town planner currently working at North Tyneside Council as Service Manager for Regeneration and Strategic Transport.

Over a long career he has worked at a hat trick of Tyneside Councils. He spent the early part of his career as a graduate at South Tyneside Council where he became Group Manager for Planning and Housing. He moved to Gateshead Council after 15 years initially to create a new Regulatory Service for the Council. He became Strategic Director for Communities and Environment where he specialised in leading regeneration and development. This included the redevelopment of Gateshead Town Centre, the demolition of the Get Carter car park and a new local energy scheme to service the Town Centre and Gateshead Quays.

He recently moved to North Tyneside Council to lead on regeneration activity which is focussed on delivering the recently approved North Shields Masterplan. This is particularly appealing to Paul as he has lived in the Borough for over 30 years. He has been a Newcastle United season ticket holder for many years but despite this still loves football!
