Mike Emmerich

Founding Director Metro Dynamics

As a Founding Director at Metro Dynamics Mike’s focus is strategy and economic intelligence. He helped create and was the lead adviser to the Cambridge and Peterborough Independent Economic Review and a Commission in Barking and Dagenham. Mike is leading our work on innovation, and has worked with Coast to Capital and Enterprise M3 Local Enterprise Partnerships.

A particular interest of Mike’s is the interface between property development and place, an area in which he has led projects for Legal & General, Bruntwood, Peel and the Select Property Group. Prior founding Metro Dynamics, Mike was the Chief Executive of New Economy in Manchester, and central to the Manchester devolution deals. He has a distinguished background in the political and economic arena, having worked in academia setting up a governance institute at the University of Manchester; consulting with Ernst and Young; and as a Civil Servant.

Whilst a Civil Servant at HM Treasury, he was one of the founding members of the Productivity Team and a member of the Prime Minister’s Policy Unit, where he was a senior advisor, holding the brief on local government housing and planning.
